When painting and powder coating, nearly all required color shades of the RAL color table can be achieved. Deviating shades can be realised by means of samples/given mixture ratios.

HKS:
The HKS color fan includes 120 so-called full tone colors, in total 3520 color shades for art printing and uncoated papers, whose sense is the predictable repeatability and communication of certain color nuances in the graphics industry. Thereby, HKS is the abbreviation for a trademark/brand of the printing ink and artist's colors manufacturer Hostmann-Steinberg Druckfarben, Kast + Ehinger Druckfarben and H. Schmincke & Co.
Pantone:
Pantone Matching System (PMS) is the name of a color system which is used mainly in the graphics and printing industry. It has been developed by the Pantone, Inc., an american company based in Carlstadt, New Jersey 1963. It contains special colors that can not be received by the usual color printing and assigns to these colors clear number-designations.
As with all color systems one can communicate world-wide due to the numbers, without being dependent on the individual color perception. The Pantone Matching System consists of 14 basic colors, that being mixed in different color proportions create all the other colors of the system. The colors are presented in a fan (the Pantone Formula guides) and a ring binder (Pantone Solid Chips Books), printed on three different kinds of paper: coated, uncoated and matte. In the fans are provided additionally to the color fields further color information, such as the mixture proportion of the basic colors (the color formulas). For the print on the different kinds of paper is always used the same color formula. In this way, the appearance of a color can vary depending on the printed paper. The aim in creating the Pantone matching System wasn't to obtain a uniform appearance of the colors, independent of the printing substrate, but to print with one uniform color formula different kinds of paper. That's why Pantone special colors are not only marked with a number code, but also with the complying paper abbreviation (C = coated, U = uncoated, M = matte). The Pantone Matching System has prevailed as a world-wide standard in the design and printing sector.
Other color systems, however, have mostly a regionally limited dissemination, such as the color system of HKS in the German-speaking area. The Natural Color System (NCS, also NCS-color system) is a standardised color system, which is based on the color perception of an average viewer belonging to the European culture area. the Natural Color System starts from the four basic colors that are sensed as "pure", as free from other colors - Yellow (Y), Green (G), Red (R) and Blue (B). These color couples are therefore put as complementary colors oppositely in the color circle. All the other colors are seen as a transition between these basic colors and given in percentages. In addition to this there are the achromatic colors Black and White. The NCS-system is one of the few, world-wide used color systems (apart from the RAL design with 1688 colors and the Pantone Matching System), in which actually 1950 color samples are, named by letters and numbers, strictly organized available.
